Beautiful Brevard

Named one of the “coolest small towns” in the US by Budget Travel, Brevard, NC, embodies mountain living at its finest.

Waterford’s proximity to downtown Brevard’s many art galleries, festivals, and restaurants is a plus. Walking downtown provides an experience of smiling greetings from friends and strangers.

Arts & Culture

Despite its small size, Brevard boasts a vibrant cultural scene. Art galleries, pottery studios, and musical performances for every taste bring enrichment opportunities to Waterford’s doorstep. Each summer, the renowned Brevard Music Center features world-class musicians in concert. Whether you’re into community theatre or film, opera or bluegrass, painting or sculpture, you’ll find it all right here.

Services & Support

Health care is more important than ever, so it may be reassuring to know that both generalist and specialist medical practices and a regional hospital are located right here. Additional care can be found in nearby Asheville and Hendersonville.

Two highlights among the many services available include the historic Silvermont Mansion and the popular Transylvania County Library. Hosting a lively senior center, Silvermont provides an array of classes, leisure activities, and wellness programs. The grounds have been developed into a lush and lovely park, with walking trails and gardens that beckon you to explore. Our public library is one of the finest in North Carolina, with its spacious architecture and state-of-the-art resources, including genealogical research tools, tech help, public computers, kids’ programming, and public lectures and educational events.

Food & Drink

If good food, craft breweries, coffee shops, bakeries, and wine bars call your name, you’ll be pleased with the variety and quality of places to eat and quench your thirst. And for the home cook who values fresh, farm-to-table fare, a shopping excursion for provisions from the Transylvania Farmers’ Market will satisfy the most discerning palate.

We chose Waterford Place [in large part] because it is across the road from the Music Center. For seven weeks each summer, these hills are literally alive with the sound of music. It is an easy walk over for an orchestral concert, chamber music, or for the pleasure of watching young musicians rehearse under the direction of nationally- and internationally-known artists.
